Description: The organic 200-acre farm, P & H Farms is located on the high plains just northeast of the beautiful town of Port Hope, near the homestead community of Zion, within 100 km of downtown Toronto. A harvest of over 40,000 tomatoes is once again expected for 2012, along with abundant quantities of beans and peas, beets and broccoli, cabbage and carrots, lettuces, kales, and spinach, cucumbers, onions, radishes, summer and winter squash, turnips, and sweet corn. Preservation of heirloom varieties is high on the list of planting priorities, even as P & H Farms broadens its production of vegetables from year to year. The aims continue to be to include a widening range of healthy, delicious products for offering at Farmers’ Markets and other sales venues and to look forward to the added benefits of greater seed strength and diversity of crops in the years to come. P & H Farms can be found during the 2012 farmers' market season in Toronto on Thursdays at EBW Bay & Adelaide Farmers' Market and the Organic Farmers' Market Place at the Toronto Botanical Garden as well as on Saturdays at Evergreen Brick Works Farmers' Market. The organic specialty food shop in Port Hope, Marché 59 carries the products of P & H Farms.
